My Aural and Dictation Class today...

note: for people who don't understand what is music dictation, music dictation is to write out the music score from what you heard. Is a listen-and-notate process. People who are interested to know more, please proceed, happy reading!

Long time never do music dictation already actually...since the aural class in UM is only kiddy stuff, I thought my skill already went down to zero.

But actually...there isn't nothing to learn in UM as well, there is something that I learned and I cannot pick up that kinda skill in any other aural class in the whole wide world.....wanna know what? That is.......ta-ta-ta-taaaaaaaa: The skill to guess what is the actual score... Don't understand? Let me explain.... the aural teacher always play several versions when repeat the short pieces for aural... everytime he repeated, it comes out different thing again, so I developed some kinda skill that can analyse from the different version. And at last, I will be the only one in class who can get full marks with no mistakes in dictation. For example, he is playing G# which is a bit "difficult" than playing G, so he will be a bit late....sometimes on time, sometimes a semiquaver late, sometimes a demisemiquaver late.....etc. But then I can still guess what is actually written on the score he is looking at....hurrah for me!

Ok back for todays aural and dictation lesson in Areca... to my own surprise, I did a superb job for today.... normally I will do a lot of silly mistakes such as: forgot to put natural after marking sharps before it, didn't care how long the note holds.....etc. But today, I did a perfect job.....see:

I have got 3 flowers from Mr Shimano, and see my score got no corrections....seldom that careful also especially the piece is quite tricky...

Then we learn soprano clef.....haih, never come across that clef before to tell the truth....see:

luckily is almost like transposing for A clarinet for a treble clef, but is still not very easy....wheew....

Later on we learn atonal sight singing from a book, which is:

this is my copy of that book....ps: is more beautiful than the original score oh....only the cover la...

Looking in the inside, whoa.......

see the gila gila sharps and flats....pening aku....

Then later on the bus, dun know is the effect of the dictation lesson that brainstorm me, see what have I done with my bus ticket:

nice green little volcano flower....
